While the kitchen was relatively quiet, the young one and I made some crescent rolls. What I\u2019ve discovered about cooking with a 2-year-old vs. a 5-year-old is that it\u2019s easier if you have everything ready to go. I pre-measured ingredients and cracked the eggs in the bowl before he knew we were going to be cooking anything. This worked really well because I could just hand him the ingredients quickly and the pace moved right along.<\/p>\n<p>The recipe comes from my favorite <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Biggest-Machine-Recipes-Better-Gardens\/dp\/0696218534\/theguilofscie-20\/\">bread machine book<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Crescent Rolls Recipe<\/h3>\n<p>(makes 16 rolls)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup milk<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup butter, cut up<\/li>\n<li>3 cups bread flour<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons sugar<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons butter, melted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Add the first 7  ingredients to the machine and select the dough cycle. When the cycle is complete, remove dough. Punch down, cover and rest for 10 minutes. Grease baking sheets; set aside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/milk.jpg\" title=\"milk.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/milk.jpg\" alt=\"milk.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/flour.jpg\" title=\"flour.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/flour.jpg\" alt=\"flour.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/sugar.jpg\" title=\"sugar.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/sugar.jpg\" alt=\"sugar.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 12-inch circle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/rollingout.jpg\" title=\"rollingout.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/rollingout.jpg\" alt=\"rollingout.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Brush each circle with half of the melted butter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/butter.jpg\" title=\"butter.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/butter.jpg\" alt=\"butter.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cut each circle into 8 wedges. Starting at the wide end of each wedge, loosely roll toward the point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/rolling.jpg\" title=\"rolling.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/rolling.jpg\" alt=\"rolling.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Place the points down, 2 to 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/holdingroll.jpg\" title=\"holdingroll.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/holdingroll.jpg\" alt=\"holdingroll.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Curve the end of each roll and form a crescent shape. Cover and let rise for 30 to 40 minutes or until nearly double.<\/p>\n<p>Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from baking sheets; cool slightly on wire racks.
