Baking with a friend is always fun. Both girls are 4 and had no problems helping with this recipe. Daughter and I made the dough prior to her guest arriving and left it to chill in the fridge. After it sat out on the counter for 15 mins it was ready to roll. The girls enjoyed using the cookie cutters and putting the sprinkles on top. The recipe we used came from Cooking Light.

Ingredients

                        <core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">16 </core:ifnotequal>tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">3/4 </core:ifnotequal>cup sugar
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">1 </core:ifnotequal>large egg
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">1 </core:ifnotequal>teaspoon pure vanilla extract
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">2 1/2 </core:ifnotequal>cups all-purpose flour, plus more for the work surface
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">1/4 </core:ifnotequal>teaspoon baking soda
<core:ifnotequal object1="<%= amount.trim() %> object2=">1/4 </core:ifnotequal>teaspoon kosher salt

Preparation

  Heat oven to 350 F.

Beat the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer on medium-high until smooth.
