Just in time for Super Bowl Sunday, our favorite guacamole recipe.
- 1 avocado
- 1 lime
- 1 medium clove garlic
- Pepper & salt to taste.
Mince garlic. Scoop out the ripe avocado into a bowl and mash with minced garlic & lime juice. Sparingly add salt & pepper.
Some people like adding cumin, or salsa, or chili powder – but this simple recipe seems to turn out the best every time. The most important thing is to have a ripe avocado. Make sure it’s precisely, exactly ripe – slightly soft to the touch without being mushy. Our avocados are a West Indian variety that ripen from the stem end down, so I wait for the tip to turn black and overripe, then cut it away and the rest is perfect.
